Now before I break each one down, let me share a couple of thing about your quarry. Mr. Steelhead is not smarter than you or I, he just understand his environment better than you. But he still is a trout and old habits die hard. Being a rainbow trout, he loves hanging out in some sort of current. Even when the temperature is 32 degrees, current is close. He can not fight who he is, period. The warmer the stream, the more the current. Now, why do you think he has those beautiful spots?? Look down on a rainbow in current and you'll see nothing. Its the best stream camouflage you can have. What does that mean? ROCKS!! They love them!! This fish has to have gravel/small broken boulders to feel secure. That is the best place to hide that camo. I've seen twenty fish huddled up on a patch of gravel 4 feet long,3 feet wide, and only 2 feet deep with a 5ft clay hole in front of them WITH NOTHING IN IT!! No gravel, no fish, period. I'll first give you a prospective by following the seasons.
